It also prevents re-infestation because of its residual effects.
Dogs and cats can also use flea and tick collars. There are different sizes of collar fitting different sizes of pets’ necks. These are plastic collars that release insecticide to kill fleas and ticks. However, it its effectiveness tends to be localized near the head area.
If you need to immediately kill all the fleas and ticks on your dog at a single moment, then using flea and tick dips are effective. You should use this on outdoor dogs that are infested. You simply immerse your dog in the dip up to its neck or sponge the solution all over their bodies, and then leave it on them to dry.
Shampoos are also effective in relieving you pets of fleas and ticks. They don’t have any residual prevention against these pests, though. Shampoos also help dog’s skin conditions and you will have a really clean one.
A flea comb is a pesticide-free method of removing fleas from your pet. It caches fleas in the narrow gaps between the teeth or forcing them to jump off. You have to run the comb through your pet’s coat. After each run, dip the comb in water and leave any fur caught in it in the water. The fleas will be killed in the soapy water.
